August 9, 2006—Ecologo, a leading environmental labeling program, has announced new environmental certification guidelines for the use of thermal insulation materials under its EcoLogoM Program.
The new guidelines, referred to as CCD-016, as with all EcoLogo certification standards, are designed to help improve and/or maintain environmental quality by reducing energy and materials consumption.
Under the new guidelines, certification will be awarded to those manufacturers and products that demonstrate environmental leadership and meet requirements for product performance, reduce use of natural resources, restricted use of ingredients contributing to specific impacts such as ozone depletion, global warming, and ground-level smog formation; and elimination of toxic materials such as formaldehyde.
Among the companies that currently have products CCD-016 certified are: Can-Cell Industries Inc.; Climatizer Insulation Inc.; Demilec Inc.; Johns Manville Canada Inc.; Plasti-Fab Ltd.; Thermo-Cell Industries Ltd.
The EcoLogo Program M, formerly known as the Environmental ChoiceM Program (ECP), is Environment Canada’s ecolabelling program, established in 1988 to help provide a market incentive to manufacturers and supplies of environmentally preferable products and services, as well as to help consumers identify products and services that are less harmful to the environment.
