June 2, 2003—The charter for IFMAs newest council, the Corporate Real Estate Council, was approved by the board of directors at its May meeting in Prague, Czech Republic. The addition of the CREC brings the total number of IFMA councils to 14 and fills the void left by the disbanded Real Estate Council.
The CREC will focus on those real estate and facility issues that affect the day-to-day operations endemic to the corporate world. Education, best practices and networking will drive much of what the council does. Some of the topics the CREC expects to cover include workplace innovation, national and global real estate leasing/occupancy trends, service delivery trends, corporate resource management and Web-based real estate technology.
Jeffrey Woolf is executive director at Cushman & Wakefield of California and spearhead of formation efforts for the CREC. Membership in the CREC is open to all real estate professionals and facility professionals who have an expanding responsibility in the corporate real estate and facilities decisions of their companies. Product and service providers who represent or do business with general corporate real estate/facilities companies are welcomed to join as well.
