Electronic Sensor Technology presents zNose threat detection to Congress

March 30, 2005—Electronic Sensor Technology, Inc. CEO Dr. Edward J. Staples was invited to appear before the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and members of Congress recently to showcase the abilities of zNose technology to rapidly detect and identify explosive and chemical threats.

The demonstrations highlighted how the zNose can monitor air within or an entire subway system in real time, detecting and identifying in seconds any dangerous or suspicious chemical vapors in concentrations as low as one part per trillion.

Unlike fixed detector systems, the company’s new electronic nose technology has the ability to adapt and recognize chemical profiles associated with terrorist threats. When incorporated into an integrated security solution, the zNose could be used to automatically trigger an instantaneous threat response that shuts down and isolates ventilation systems curtailing the spread of biological and chemical agents and severely limiting the areas of contamination.
