May 5, 2003—Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International reports that an energy omnibus bill (H.R. 6) passed the US House of Representatives on April 11. However, a tax credit for energy efficient commercial buildings (which BOMA International supports) was omitted. BOMA plans to try to add the credit during the Conference Committee between the House and Senate.
The bill that moved through the House Energy and Commerce Committee included a power title that expands the federal site transmission lines, intervene in state market design, and streamline the relicensing process for hydroelectric facilities. Also, the Science Committee authorized approximately $31 billion for research and development programs.
