Energy Star awards honor 74 organizations for energy management

April 9, 2008—Energy Star, a joint program of the US Department of Energy and the US Environmental Protection Agency, has honored 74 organizations for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. The Energy Star awardees represent many sectors of the US economy, including schools, hospitals, real estate, manufacturing, chemicals, and home building.

The award winners were selected from over 12,000 organizations that partner in the Energy Star program. The awards were given in several categories, including Sustained Excellence, Partner of the Year—Energy Management, Partner of the Year—Energy Efficient Program Delivery, and others.

A sampling of the companies that were honored includes: Austin Energy, Best Buy, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, California Portland Cement, CB Richard Ellis, Ford, Lowe’s, Food Lion, Marriott International, Pacific Gas and Electric, PepsiCo, 3M, and Toyota.
