Energy Star names Johnson Controls partner of the year

Energy Star has named Johnson Controls “Partner of the Year” for its outstanding commitment to preventing pollution through the integration of energy efficient systems in more than 100 facilities throughout the United States.

Energy Star is a program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy introduced in 1992 as a voluntary market-based partnership to reduce air pollution through increased energy efficiency. Energy Star now works with more than 7,000 organizations to improve the energy efficiency of products, homes and organizations.

Each year the Energy Star program selects companies that exemplify leadership in energy efficiency as its Partners of the Year.

Energy Star is designed to help U.S. building owners efficiently operate facilities such as schools, hospitals, office complexes and retail stores. The voluntary program emphasizes profitable investment opportunities created by implementing proven energy efficiency technologies. Johnson Controls, a market leader in automotive systems and facility management and control, encourages broad-based Energy Star participation for businesses and organizations, and educates its own sales professionals and engineers about the program through an electronically distributed newsletter, dedicated Intranet Web sites and special training programs.

As an Energy Star partner, Johnson Controls has benchmarked 116 buildings around the country, resulting in four prestigious Energy Star labels, and has recruited 20 new partners into the program. Johnson Controls has also upgraded 46 of its own facilities to reduce the company’s energy costs by more than 25%, representing a savings of more than $820,000. The company has decreased its energy usage by more than 30% since 1997, and prevented more than 20,000,000 lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions. For more information, contact Johnson Controls.
