April 19, 2004—Energy Systems Group and Norfolk State University have created the first public university partnership in Virginia to conserve and reduce energy consumption of state agencies.
To help NSU meet its commitment to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption at the main campus, Energy Systems Group is providing a package of energy technology applications focused on improving cooling, heating, lighting, and water use. Additionally, new HVAC system controls will be installed to improve the day-to-day operation and comfort of the facilities.
In conjunction with the facility improvements, Energy Systems Group is also working with NSU to develop a long-range strategic energy master plan to identify and pursue additional energy efficiency opportunities.
Construction on this $2.1 million project will start immediately and is scheduled for completion by year’s end. During the term of this agreement, NSU expects to save over $3 million in direct energy costs and will determine other tactics and avenues to increase efficiency through the strategic planning process.
