EnerLume light fixtures bring energy costs down at Dean Warehouse

August 22, 2007—Dean Warehouse, a New England warehousing, logistics and transportation company, is using the EnerLume-EM by Host America in combination with a fluorescent lighting retrofit to reduce its energy usage and reduce its costs for electricity.

Previously, Dean Warehouse was wasting energy by lighting all areas of the warehouse equally during the full 18 hours the warehouse is open. With the new lighting retrofit fixtures controlled by the EnerLume controller, Dean reduced the energy needed to provide adequate light throughout the facility, without losing perceived luminosity.

EnerLume-EM uses patent pending technology to manage incoming power so that the fluorescent light ballasts draw energy from the electric wave only when power transmission is most efficient, says the company. This allows perceived light levels to be maintained while reducing electricity use by up to 15%. Additional savings can be generated by using EnerLume-EM proprietary software to dim or selectively curtail lights during after hours or reduced use periods.

The EnerLume-EM was originally installed in one of Dean’s warehouses, but it worked so well the company is now adding five more locations. Dean is one of the 20 largest private warehousing companies in the United States.

The EnerLume-EM light controller is distributed by Host America Corporation.
