April 7, 2003—St. Louis-based Engineered Support Systems has received a contract for $625,000 from the United States Postal Service to perform technical enhancements and additional testing on its Residue Collection Module (RCM) system. This contract is the second phase of development leading to a potential production contract for up to 300 RCM systems for the Postal Service, which may be awarded to the company within the next year.
The RCM System, designed by the Company’s Systems & Electronics Inc. subsidiary, provides the Postal Service with the ability to collect air samples during its mail processing operations and then transports those samples to a biohazard detection system.
