Engineering and insurance firms team up to provide terrorism protection

July 17, 2002—SSAF International and its worldwide group of companies have formed a unique alliance with Sandberg and Smith, Ross, Shane Company to enable corporations around the world to have access to three important factors in the fight against terrorism: structural protection, structural engineering, and insurance protection.

With concern for client confidentiality, engineers from Sandberg will identify structural vulnerability, then hold planning sessions with SSAF, the blast protection company well-versed in terrorism protection. SSAF invents, develops, manufactures, and installs its own security window film products, which greatly reduce damage from blasts.

Once structural integrity and blast protection criteria are in place, the Smith, Ross, Shane insurance company will be prepared to offer coverage and set its premium. Having worked closely with Sandberg and SSAF, the insurance company will know the capability of the structure to survive catastrophic failure and the capability of the glass to protect both property and people inside the structure. Because of the increased protection from the effects of a blast, the risk to the insurance company is mitigated, and the policy for the client will be the best that is available and at the lowest premium available. Smith, Ross, Shane Company supplies corporate insurance, specializing in the fields of liability and corporate property.
