August 30, 2006—With the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Environmental Defense has launched a campaign urging Americans to replace one million standard light bulbs with energy-efficient models, according to a report in Greenbiz.com.
The “Make the Switch” campaign encourages consumers to replace standard incandescent light bulbs with new compact fluorescent models that use at least three times less energy. The campaign’s Web site provides a buying guide for the new compact fluorescents and discounts for purchasing bulbs.
“Make the Switch” is part of a major campaign by Environmental Defense to convince government, industry, and the public that the US must take bold action to address climate change.
