April 8, 2002—Environmental Power Corporation (POWR) has executed a 15-year contract with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation to supply electricity from up to 15 Mw of generating capacity expected to be produced from multiple installations which will use primarily animal wastes to produce biogas and electricity.
Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Microgy Cogeneration Systems, Inc., POWR holds the license for a Danish technology for efficient extraction of methane from animal and other wastes which can be used for energy production. “We are pleased to execute this agreement which is one of the cornerstones in our efforts to roll out our licensed, proprietary anaerobic digestion to electricity process,” said Joseph Cresci, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of POWR.
