August 27, 2003—The World Resources Institute and Think Energy recently applauded the American Psychological Association (APA) and its property manager, Trammell Crow Company, for purchasing more than 20 million kilowatt hours of green power its two Capitol Hill office buildings.
Austin-based Green Mountain Energy Company will supply the green power in the form of renewable energy certificates, which represent the environmental benefits created when clean renewable energy reduces demand from fossil fuel energy.
APA and Trammell Crow received assistance from the Green Power Market Development Group, a partnership between the World Resources Institute and twelve US companies dedicated to building corporate markets for green power.
Think Energy, a renewable energy consulting firm, evaluated green power options and negotiated contract terms.
