April 14, 2004—The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced a $2 million grant to the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (AMWA) to support on-going efforts of the Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (WaterISAC), a state-of-the-art, secure information system that shares up-to-date threat and incident information between the intelligence community and the water sector.
EPA’s second year of funding to the WaterISAC will allow more water utilities throughout the country to receive such critical water security information as early warning of potential physical contamination and cyber threats.
