August 3, 2001—R-Tec Technologies announced July 24, 2001, that the EPA has approved R-Tec’s active ingredient (an anti-bacterial / anti-microbial) for the treatment of air and water filter media and for use in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. This new ingredient, combined with R-Tec’s micro encapsulation system, will employ a new method of protecting fibers, which R-Tec claims should revolutionize the filter industry.
R-Tec says the new filter protecting method will kill 99.99% of harmful bacteria, fungi, mold, and pathogens (common cold, flu virus, tuberculosis, etc.) commonly found in the air that passes through a ventilation duct system. This new technology should benefit many different industries including residential, hospitals, nursing homes, aerospace, and schools.
