May 12, 2008—The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced on May 5 $1.6 million in funding for seven small companies to commercialize innovative green technologies such as a more efficient biodiesel production process, the use of nanomaterials as an alterative to mercury in lighting fixtures, and a ceramic membrane system that recovers both water and energy from boiler flue gas.
The companies that received Phase II SBIR funding are: Compact Membrane Systems, Inc., of Wilmington, DE; Giner, Inc., Newton, MA; KSE, Inc., Sunderland, MA; Lesktech Limited, Marquette, MI; Media and Process Technology, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA; Nanomaterials and Nanofabrication Laboratories, LLC, Fayetteville, AR; and NanoScale Materials, Inc., Manhattan, KS.
