EPA honors ozone protection award winners

October 1, 2007—The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is presenting the 2007 Best-of- the-Best Stratospheric Ozone Protection Awards in honor of the 20-year anniversary of the signing of the Montreal Protocol. Since 1990, the annual EPA Stratospheric Ozone Protection Awards have honored 509 individuals and organizations from 42 different countries.

EPA says that this year’s 52 award recipients have demonstrated ingenuity, leadership, and public service by improving environmental performance, reducing and eliminating emissions of ozone depleting substances, and strengthening national and Montreal Protocol policies.

The Organization awards went to: Carrier Corporation; Dow AgroSciences; Fetzer Vineyards; Fumigation Service and Supply; Trane; US Department of the Air Force; US Department of the Army; US Department of Defense; US Department of the Navy; and US Naval Sea Systems Command.

The Association awards went to: The CFC Committee of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (FPMAJ); Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA); The Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI); Japan Industrial Conference on Cleaning (JICC); and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

The Team awards went to: The Appliance Recycling Team; The Australian Methyl Bromide Phaseout Team; China Leadership Team; The MDI Transition Team; The Netherlands, Australia, United States ODS Management Partnership; and US Air Force and Navy Aircraft Fire Protection Team.
