January 18, 2006—The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced EPA’s annual IAQ Tools for Schools Excellence Awards at the agency’s sixth annual Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools Symposium [KATRINE: LIVE LINK TO http://www.epa.gov/iaq/schools/ ]. The awards honor schools and school districts that have exemplary IAQ programs, ranging from designing a new school building free of toxins and other hazards to developing district-wide policies for continuous training and maintenance.
The 2005 winners include:

- Hartford Public Schools, Hartford, Connecticut
- Katy Independent School District, Katy, Texas
- The School Board of Broward County, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
- Vashon Island School District, Vashon Island, Washington

The Model of Sustained Excellence Award winner is:

2005 Special Achievement Award winners include:
