March 1, 2004—Ecology and Environment, Inc., (E & E) was recognized as New York State’s 23rd Energy Star labeled office building and became just the second Energy Star office building in Western New York. The headquarters scored an 86 out of a possible 100. The passing benchmark score for an Energy Star labeled office building is 75.
E & E has developed an overall sustainability program for its headquarters office building that includes energy usage, recycling, composting, carpooling, and landscape ecology. Since 1999, E & E has seen a 35 percent drop in electric usage per employee without any decrease in worker productivity.
The Green Office program saves E & E approximately $85,000 a year on utilities and other environmentally related costs at its Western New York facilities.
E & E provides Green program services to offices, schools, colleges and university campuses, to assist in cost cutting through improved environmental practices.
