EPA releases toxics release inventory facility-level data

November 28, 2005—To better inform communities, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released on November 18 the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) facility-level data for Reporting Year 2004. TRI provides American communities with vital information on chemical releases and waste management activities such as treatment, recycling, and energy recovery.

As requested by many stakeholders, this “raw” data is being released early through the Electronic Facility Data Release (e-FDR), which displays the TRI data exactly as received by EPA—one form for each chemical at a facility.

The data will still be analyzed and grouped, and will be released with more quality checks, national trends, and analysis in the traditional Public Data Release (PDR) in spring 2006.
