EPA to power Cincinnati labs 100 percent with renewable energy

September 3, 2001—The EPA has announced that it will power three of its research facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio, 100 percent with renewable energy through an agreement with Community Energy, Inc., a renewable energy marketing company. By early 2002, EPA will be receiving nine percent of its electricity from green sources such as wind, solar, and biomass.

The decision was made in accordance with President Bush’s mandate earlier this year that all federal agencies begin reducing energy consumption.
