EPA video helps health care providers prevent illness from drinking water

November 19, 2004—The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is releasing an educational training video to help health care providers recognize, report, and prevent waterborne illness from drinking water sources. “Tap into Prevention: Drinking Water Information for Health Care Providers” explains potential health risks from exposure to microbial and chemical contaminants in drinking water. The video provides case studies of the 1993 cryptosporidiosis outbreak in Milwaukee as well as a city-wide testing program for lead in drinking water in Philadelphia’s schools.
