October 2, 2006—ErSol Solar Energy AG has signed a five-year contract to deliver solar cells to the California-based PowerLight Corporation. ErSol says PowerLight is one of the world’s leading companies in the development, manufacture, fulfillment, and operation of photovoltaic systems. PowerLight has reportedly been granted over 70 US and international patents for roof-mounted and tracking solar power systems.
This collaboration will allow ErSol to take a large step towards developing the key US market, which ErSol considers to have the greatest growth potential for the PV industry, aside from Southern Europe and Asia.
The total volume of the new contract amounts to approximately 100 million euros. At PowerLight’s option, up to an additional 37 million euros of PV cells will be provided.
