ESS releases new browser-based MSDS module with improved workflow functionality

September 24, 2003—Environmental Support Solutions (ESS), through its subsidiary Essential Information Systems (EIS), has released a browser-based MSDS module for its enterprise suite of environmental management products. This solution joins the company’s other browser-based solutions for enterprise EH&S management, including modules for chemical inventory management, compliance task management, incident management, air and water emissions data collection, and waste management.

ESS is a provider of environmental health and safety (EH&S) and contingency planning software that helps organizations manage regulatory compliance programs. ESS’s solutions include two fully integrated EH&S suites: Compliance Suite for small and mid-sized businesses and Essential EH&S for large enterprises.

Essential MSDS Manager version 6.0 is designed to streamline the MSDS collection and data management process by using the Intranet or Internet as a conduit. The module employs Microsoft.NET-based Web architecture that allows cost effective deployment of the application across a facility or enterprise. Essential MSDS Manager’s browser-based functionality can be used alone or in combination with the program’s client-server application. MSDS material information collected from the program is integrated with the other Essential enterprise suite of solutions and can be leveraged for various environmental reports, including SARA reporting and emission calculations.

Other features will allow users to: Simplify the MSDS process with a powerful search engine to search for MSDSs by many criteria; streamline ability to comply with OSHA Hazard Communication standard; empower employees to access electronic MSDS information via Internet; know status of all their MSDSs, including current (active), inactive, pending, and discontinued documents and data and reduce hazardous material Right-to-Know compliance costs and non-compliance risks.
