February 13, 2002—Evive Corp., a provider of biometric security solutions for offices and buildings, has been selected by Gates, Hudson, & Associates—a full service real estate company serving the Washington, DC metro area—to provide biometric access security for its multistory commercial office building in Alexandria, Va.
Several prominent government and defense contracting firms, including Mantech International, Envisioneering, and Hadron Inc., lease space in the property.
The biometric system works by allowing tenants to access the facility after hours by entering their unique personal identification number into a biometric reader placed at the facility’s secured doors. The reader then requires that the tenant briefly place a designated finger on the reader for authentication. The transaction is automatically recorded, allowing facility managers or employers to add or delete users and run irrefutable incident reports any time of the day or night.
Evive’s biometric system eliminates the vulnerabilities that exist today with older token-based systems because it does not rely on a badge or card that can be lost, stolen, or borrowed.
