November 6, 2002—ImageWare Systems, Inc. has been selected by the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to provide the credentialing component of the FAA’s ID Media (FIM) Program. This program calls for the creation and management of approximately 16 different kinds of credentials, badges and ID cards that will be issued to FAA executives, employees and contractors, in addition to Special Agents and Federal Air Marshals.
ImageWare’s software developer’s kit (SDK) will be used to create a Web-based credentialing system that will enable FAA personnel to design, personalize and print secure credentials that include biometric data, security holograms and smart chip encoding. Additional functionality will allow the FAA to track and manage the ID card issuance process with an integrated lifecycle management module.
