Dutch VNU has agreed to acquire Miller Freeman USA for $650m in cash. Assets sold include the Design Group and its publications Facilities Design & Management and Contract Design. Miller Freeman, Inc. is a subsidiary of United News & Media. The sale is part of the divestment program announced by United last November at the time it first proposed merging with Carlton Communications, and it is a significant step forward in focusing the Group’s portfolio. VNU is one of the world’s leading publishing and information companies and has leading market positions in business information, consumer magazines, directories and information services, as well as educational publishing. Worldwide, VNU employs approximately 16,000 persons and has annual revenues of more than Eur 2.8 billion.
