In spite of recent discomfort for some listed technology companies, telehotels are going ahead with new developments and, in some cases, flotation. These large-scale data centers offer telecommunications infrastructure services for a variety of organizations. IXEurope, a telehotel developer with five operating centers and 19 planned ones, is going ahead with a 309m flotation even though the share price of its competitor, Telecity, has recently dropped by about half, after it went public in June. Global Switch, which is about two years old like IXEurope and valued at 750m, also plans to go public. Research company Ovum predicts that the telehotels market could be worth up to $60 billion at the end of five years.
