FCC refrains from mandatory access to office buildings

The commercial real estate, particularly BOMA International, is applauding the announcement on October 12 by the Federal Communications Commission that it would not mandate access to office buildings. Instead, the FCC will hold the real estate community to the commitment it made to seek marketplace solutions for access. Thus, rather than mandating access to buildings across the board, as the competitive local exchange carriers had hoped, the FCC noted the voluntary standards entered into the record by the Real Access Alliance and is taking the landlord community at its word.
