Flexible Technologies Thermaflex duct wins GREENGUARD certification for IAQ

March 28, 2003—The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute has awarded its Certification for Indoor Air Quality to the Flexible Technologies’ Thermaflex M-KC. The Thermaflex duct underwent a stringent series of emissions tests and will continue to be monitored on a quarterly basis. All certified products are tested according the GREENGUARD Standards for total particles, formaldehyde, and other volatile organic compounds.

“We are proud that Thermaflex is the first flexible duct to earn this Indoor Air Quality evaluation acceptance, said Flexible Technologies’ HVAC Sales Manager, James Lollis. “For more than 50 years, Thermaflex has been the flexible duct choice of professional contractors nationwide. Now we provide solutions to air quality challenges.”

GREENGUARD’s Certification Partner, Air Quality Sciences, Inc., has developed a new testing procedure for HVAC duct materials. Thermaflex is one of the first products to be tested under typical building operating conditions. This new technology tests the air that flows through the duct product and measures the level of particles and pollutants that that will be released into the environment during operation. Control at the source of pollution is the best way to create a better indoor environment. Choosing low emitting products can significantly reduce the level of potentially irritating contaminates.
