September 22, 2004—Accela, a provider of government enterprise management solutions, has announced that the Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) has launched the company’s Web-based software solution, Accela Automation at their Downtown and West-Dade (MDPIC) Offices. The solution will initially handle Municipal Plan Review activities.
Accela Automation is being implemented as DERM’s new Environmental Enterprise Operations System (EEOS). A key benefit for DERM is that the new system delivers an enterprise solution that automates workflow and business operations without sacrificing the critical GIS functionality the agency needs. One of the key functions DERM uses is the Proximity Alerts feature within Accela GIS to automate and support their map analysis activities and streamline the plan review process, a task they were performing manually.
Eventually, the Accela Automation system will be implemented in other divisions to provide DERM with a fully integrated computerized system to streamline the land management, permitting, and code compliance activities throughout the agency. Additional divisions that will implement the system include Pollution Control Division, Natural Resources Division, Water Management Division, Water & Wastewater Division, Air Quality Management Division, and Enforcement Division.
DERM joins more than 20 other agencies within the state of Florida utilizing Accela products.
