November 29, 2004—J.A. Jones International, a Fluor company, announced that it has received the National Design-Build Award for Best Project, Public Sector Building over $15 million, from the Design-Build Institute of America.
The new United States embassy complex in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), completed in March 2004, was chosen for its use and efficacy of design-build as a project delivery method. Designed to express the strong, deep and lasting relations between the UAE and the United States, the facility features an innovative futuristic design, marked by the striking angular shape and the use of unusual building materials. The design reflects the favored style of architecture in Abu Dhabi: bold, abstract and ultramodern that contrasts sharply, yet effectively, with the surrounding desert landscape. The vibrant design remains consistent with the standard for architectural innovation in the UAE.
J. A. Jones International is a provider of design-build and construction management services to the U.S. government. It has an extensive track record of building and renovating U.S. embassies worldwide. It has 10 Department of State projects under way in the following countries: Greece, Belize, Germany, Kazakhstan, Jamaica, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Ivory Coast, Bulgaria and Armenia.
While J.A. Jones’ current operations are focused on the Department of State, it also has served all branches of the Department of Defense, USAID, as well as commercial clients, by providing construction and design-build services for a variety of facilities.
