May 15, 2026 – Forbo Flooring Systems just celebrated a historic milestone with the grand opening of our Flotex production facility in Hazleton, Pennsylvania – Forbo’s FIRST North American satellite plant and the first manufacturing site located outside of Europe! Flotex redefines durability and is engineered to outperform traditional tufted and woven carpets. While it provides the same warm, comfortable, slip-resistant and acoustic benefits of carpet, Flotex features a unique high-density flocked construction that makes highly durable, cleanable, and healthy. Nylon 6,6 fibers are electrostatically driven upright into Flotex’s solid, waterproof base, resulting in 46,000 densely packed upright fibers per square inch.
Each fiber is sealed into the backing, making it 100% waterproof and topically impervious to dirt, soil, and liquids. Moisture cannot penetrate and linger in the backing, preventing bacteria growth and eliminating odors. Flotex’s upright, nylon 6,6 fibers make it easy to clean and fast drying. Most stains and spills can easily be removed without harsh chemicals, while dirt and allergens are easily removed by vacuuming. Flotex’s dense construction resists crushing and matting, and it will not unravel, wrinkle, or show wear patterns. Flotex can be restored to like-new condition at any point during its 30-year service life.
Flotex’s unique high-density flocked construction provides the perfect canvas for our new state-of-the-art digital printer. Each upright fiber is individually printed in a 3-step process, resulting in beautiful, high-definition visuals. Choose from our wide selection of patterns and designs, re-color patterns to match your aesthetic, or create your own custom designs including logos and mascots. The possibilities are endless!
