August 30, 2004—GE Lighting’s new, full line of compact fluorescent lamps includes two innovative products with unique design options. The Incandescent Shape and the Spiral also offer a five-year life guarantee (6,000 hours) and significant energy savings over standard incandescent light bulbs.
With a warm incandescent-like color, the Incandescent Shape lamp offers the many benefits of compact fluorescent technology with a traditional bulb shape. This lamp is available in 15-watt or 20-watt options—equivalent to the light output of a 60-watt or 75-watt incandescent, respectively—resulting in a $27-$33 energy cost savings over the life of the lamp, reports GE.
The Incandescent Shape has received Energy Star certification, meaning that as an Energy Star partner, GE Lighting has determined that this product meets the Energy Star guidelines for energy efficiency as set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy.
Presenting another “twist” in compact fluorescent lighting options, the new Spiral offers consumers a sleek, contemporary design alternative. The new Spiral lamp uses rare-earth phosphors for a brighter, more vibrant color. In addition this lamp starts instantly, with no annoying flicker during start-up, says GE. Available in 17-watt, 21-watt and 27-watt options, the Spiral offers consumers more than 70 percent energy savings over standard incandescent lamps. New color options in red, green, and blue will also be available.
