GEMI releases new sustainability metrics tool

April 11, 2007—The Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI) has released a new tool designed to help companies set sustainability goals and communicate performance around company values and strategies.

The GEMI Metrics Navigator helps companies identify key metrics that support their business strategy and that drive long-term sustainability, and put the numbers into a context that goes beyond traditional financial metrics.

The tool provides a six-step process that can be used in full or as a reference to fine tune existing efforts to link environmental and social performance to shareholder value. It also includes a variety of case studies and approaches, 8 EAG perspectives, 10 worksheets, and additional online resources.

The case studies highlight such companies as FedEx, 3M, Eastman Kodak Company, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, DuPont, Johnson Controls, and several others.

The GEMI Metrics Navigator is available online. GEMI is a nonprofit organization of 39 leading companies dedicated to fostering global environmental, health and safety excellence, and corporate citizenship.
