Gentry Hardwood introduces hybrid flooring system

September 24, 2007—Gentry Hardwood Floors has introduced FusionPlank solid hybrid flooring system.

It is designed to have the look, feel and wear properties of traditional three-quarter-inch solid hardwood floors with the dimensional stability to allow for below grade, concrete slab installations usually reserved for engineered flooring products.

FusionPlank floor planks have two component layers. The base layer is manufactured from smaller pieces of hardwoods that are finger-jointed then assembled into a solid plank that is dimensionally extremely stable and stronger than a solid piece of wood, according to the company. The wear layer, which can be any dimension from 2mm to a full one-quarter inch, provides the appearance of a solid floor and allows for more than five sandings.

The wear layer and base layer are permanently fused together using a patented fusing agent. The final finish is Gentry’s advanced ceramic oxide coating.
