November 7, 2008—The Green Building Council of South Africa recently became the 13th full member of the World Green Building Council, according to a GreenerBuildings newsletter.
The Green Building Council of South Africa, which had been an “emerging member” for about a year, is developing its Green Star SA ratings tools in consultation with the Green Building Council of Australia. Final release of the Green Star SA-Office is expected in November 2008.
The members of the World Green Building Council, which first began meeting in 1999, now include the green building councils from Australia, Brazil, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Taiwan, the UK, and the US, along with emerging members awaiting full acceptance.
