February 9 , 2004—Green Mountain Energy Company recently announced it is working with the Environmental Protection Agency to promote EPA’s Green Power Partnership Program to eligible commercial customers in Texas.
The Green Power Partnership is an EPA voluntary program working to standardize green power procurement as part of best practice environmental management. Commercial customers that join the Partnership agree to purchase green power for a percentage of their electricity needs, ranging from 2 percent to 15 percent depending on the size of their annual electricity load. Green power for the purposes of this program is defined as electricity that is generated from resources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, and low-impact hydro facilities. Partner benefits available through the program include technical and communications assistance—including recognition through the EPA Web site, use of the Partnership logo, participation in a network of green power purchasers, eligibility for national awards, and program window stickers.
Green Mountain Energy Company consultants work with businesses across Texas to determine which Green Mountain Energy electricity product is right for them. Examples of the products offered include: the Green Mountain Energy Commercial Month-to-Month plan; the Green Mountain Energy Commercial Reliable Rate plan, which secures rates for a full year of service; and the Green Mountain Energy Commercial 100 percent Wind Plan. The first two options are both designed to offer cost savings for many businesses and include an electricity product made from a combination of natural gas and wind. The third option features 100 percent pollution-free electricity made from wind that costs just a little more than most businesses are paying now on average.
Green Mountain Energy Company will offer customers who use between 100,000 kWh and 1,000,000 kWh annually enrollment into the EPA’s Green Power Partnership Program when they choose to sign up for any of Green Mountain Energy Company’s standard product offering in Texas. This includes the Commercial Month-to-Month plan, Commercial Reliable Rate Plan, and Commercial 100 percent Wind Plan.
