September 15, 2006—MITIE Cleaning & Support Services and its client Foster & Partners have become two of the first ‘Green Heroes’ in the UK.
The Green Heroes award is made by The Green Organisation, an independent group dedicated to recognizing, rewarding and promoting best environmental practice in the private and public sectors. The award, which is linked to the ‘Green Apple Award’ that both companies jointly won recently, was presented by Professor David Bellamy OBE at a ceremony at Kensington Roof Gardens, in London.
Bob West, the MITIE account manager who runs the contract at the internationally known architectural practice, commented: “We are delighted that Foster & Partners and MITIE have won this new award. This recognizes the hard work and the measurable environmental initiatives that we have both adopted. We look forward to working hard to retain it next year.”
The Green Organisation’s work is supported by the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institution of Waste Management, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and other environmental bodies.
