July 24, 2006—GridPoint, Inc., a provider of intelligent energy management (IEM) products, reports that independent testing of its GridPoint Connect verifies the performance and capabilities of the product to provide clean, reliable backup power, integrate renewable energy, and automatically manage energy efficiency for business or home. The testing was performed at Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) San Ramon (CA) Laboratory facility.
GridPoint Connect is a grid-tied battery backup product that automatically executes intelligent decisions to improve power reliability and management. It enables customers to easily integrate renewable energy and leverage instant, silent backup power, as well as enjoy increased energy efficiency.
The elegant turnover appliance combines advanced battery storage with power electronics and is designed for use inside a business or a home, says the company. GridPoint Connect customers can take advantage of tax credits allowed for commercial and private solar-related equipment.
GridPoint Connect was tested for safety, demand management, its ability to support a secure load and sell renewable energy back to the grid, as well as transfer time during an electric power grid failure. The product passed all criteria and also tested well within the 30 millisecond grid failure switchover timeframe.
GridPoint products benefit utilities by helping to reduce peak demand costs, enhance the reliability of the electric grid, and introduce a measure of network elasticity into the grid. For more information, visit the Web site.
