February 4, 2005—Haworth, a Michigan-based furniture manufacturer, is offering six new fabrics made completely from recycled polyester. The fabrics available for order since February 1, are offered in grades A to D.
The Grade A pattern, Striae, features colored yarns running in parallel. In Grade B, the Landscape pattern features subtle color and weave variation. In Grade C, the offerings include Mirage, inspired by light reflecting off water, and Pring, inspired by the abstract expressionist artwork of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. The Grade D offerings, Cirque and Furrow, both focus on texture. Cirque has a blend of matte and sheen yarns, and Furrow has soft, cotton-like yarns woven in neutral combinations.
Five of the fabrics have received both Terratex and Green-e designations. Only the Grade C design, Mirage, has not.
With these additions, Haworth now offers 16 systems fabrics in 100 percent recycled polyester, comprising nearly 57 percent of Haworths proprietary systems fabric offering.
