October 4, 2006—The Healthy Schools Campaign (HSC), an Illinois-based independent nonprofit is releasing The Quick and Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools.
Fifty thousand copies of the multimedia handbook are being made available to and through national educational associations, school authorities, district purchasing agents, and school administrators.
HSC maintains that the quality of the school environment can have a significant impact on the health and performance of students and staff members. Green Cleaning can reduce exposure to chemical fumes, pesticides, molds and other toxins, helping students stay healthy and learn, protecting the health of custodial staff, increasing the lifespan of facilities and preserving the environment, HSC says.
With numerous states looking at instituting indoor air quality programs and New York State requiring green cleaning in public and private schools, Green Cleaning is becoming the standard, and schools need to have access to the information and products to comply.
