April 29, 2002—Herman Miller was ranked once again in Business Ethics magazine’s annual listing of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens. The magazine ranked Herman Miller in the Top 10 on the listing for a third consecutive time, citing Herman Miller’s long-standing record of social responsibility as well as the company’s commitment to the environment and to creating a sustainable business.
Herman Miller is the only company in the contract office furniture industry on the list. The company earned its high marks on the basis of seven separate measures, including corporate service to the community, to minorities and women, to employees, to the environment, to non-US stakeholders, and to customers. The company was also graded on its total return to shareholders. The company was praised for its leadership in environmental stewardship, sharing the No. 1 designation in that category with four other companies.
