Herman Miller tops industry in FORTUNE’s ‘most admired’ list

March 9, 2007—For the 19th time in the past 21 years, Herman Miller is ranked as the “most admired” company in its industry in FORTUNE magazine’s annual survey broadly measuring the reputation of America ‘s corporations. The company also placed in the Top Ten among all firms surveyed in the category of Innovation.

The results, to be published in FORTUNE’s March 19, 2007, issue, rate Herman Miller first among all companies in its industry in four of the survey’s eight key attributes of reputation – Innovation, People management, Social responsibility and Quality of products/services.

The magazine characterizes the annual listing as “the definitive report card on corporate reputations.” To compile the Most Admired list, FORTUNE enlisted the help of Hay Group, which sorted the FORTUNE 1,000 and the top foreign companies operating in the U.S. into distinct industry lists, each containing the ten largest companies. A total of 616 companies in 68 industries were surveyed.

Also on the list as most admired were IBM for computers, Ingram Micro for wholesale electronic and office equipment, BellSouth for telecommunications and Manor Care for Medical Facilities.
