July 4, 2005 — Hygrometrix has announced the commercial release of its flagship HMX2000-HT humidity-temperature sensor, the Hygrotron.
The MEMS based humidity sensor operates on a unique patented shear stress/strain principle, the company says. In development for several years, the sensor combines both high accuracy and wide dynamic range (0-100%RH) humidity measurement capability with integral temperature measurement. The company is quoting lead times of 8 weeks for volume orders.
The sensor is available in SOIC and TO5 style packages with samples available immediately. The company also has two new evaluation kits for the sensor.
The HMX 2000-HT EvalKit comes with two calibrated sensors, 6 foot cable with probe for remote measurements, USB powered data acquisition system, signal conditioning board and data logging software. Sensor samples start at $75 in single units and the evaluation kit is $400. A basic evaluation kit is available, too. Also being released in summer 2005 are new transmitters with a variety of interfaces including 4-20mA, 0-3V, controller area network (CAN) and others.
