November 21, 2025 — The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) has just launched an updated IAHSS Workplace Violence Prevention and Mitigation Certificate Program — newly revised and modernized for today’s healthcare environment.
The original program launched in December 2021 and has been completed by over 1,000 professionals. The 2025 update was led by a new team of leading subject matter experts (PDF).
The enhanced curriculum now offers a dual focus on prevention and mitigation, reflecting the evolving challenges faced by healthcare workers — who remain at the highest risk of workplace violence across all industries.
This two-day virtual education course was developed for healthcare security leaders and any other healthcare professionals charged with leading or participating in their organization’s workplace violence prevention and mitigation efforts. It will give you the knowledge, tools and support to develop, manage, maintain and evaluate all aspects of your organization’s program, as well as the opportunity to learn from and network with others in the field.
The updated course will be available starting December 2025 and is open to all healthcare professionals committed to creating safer care environments.
During this two-day live interactive course, you will learn to:
• Understand the goals, objectives, priorities and critical elements of a compliant and successful healthcare workplace violence prevention program;
• Build strategies for using data and worksite analysis to inform decision making, increase leadership and stakeholder engagement, and continuously improve an evolving program; and
• Prepare the healthcare workforce to prevent, respond to and recover from acts of violence, with an emphasis on the mitigation of harm.
The first course is on Tuesday, December 16 from 10am to 1pm CT and Wednesday, December 17, from 10am to 1pm CT.
All Attendees will receive the IAHSS Workplace Violence Prevention e-Bundle.
