Icon Construction completes modular project for US Army

November 7, 2008—Icon Construction has announced the completion of construction of a 93,000-square foot modular project for the US Army Installation at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. The project consisted of two administration buildings and 13 barracks. The project reportedly took 100 days to complete from notice to proceed.

Icon Construction, headquartered in McKinney, Texas, manufactures modular buildings and portable steel buildings for lease or purchase. The firm is veteran and Native American owned and has its own manufacturing facility.

Icon Construction asserts that a modular building substantially reduces construction time and cost, and minimizes the impact and disruptions on an occupied site that traditional construction would cause, yet still offers all of the features and functions of traditional construction. The company notes that with the recent changes in homeland security and in government agencies at all levels, there is a need for quicker, more efficient, and flexible solutions for additional space.

Icon’s list of building types ranges from modular office buildings to portable school buildings, field offices, churches and daycare centers. Its temporary and permanent military and government buildings include security stations, border stations, dormitories/living quarters, portable storage units and command centers.

Icon Construction offers a turnkey project option in which the company will Design/Build/Develop a site. Individual components may include site engineering, a parking lot, a perimeter security fence, site lighting, building design and construction, CCTV security system, provision of a local area network and phone system, and more.
