July 1, 2002—The Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) has launched a new tool that CEDIA says will standardize the identification of custom electronics systems on architectural blueprints and advance the role custom electronics plays in new home and commercial construction and remodeling projects.
CEDIA recently unveiled a custom electronics icon set for AutoCAD versions 2000, 2001 and 2002 for use in residential and commercial low voltage demarcation. AutoCAD is a PC-based drafting system used by architects and other design and build professionals to create blueprints for new construction or remodeling projects.
The new CEDIA AutoCAD icons, available in sticker form or as a download from the CEDIA web site, are designed to be the universal standard in custom electronic demarcation and facilitate the integration of custom electronics systems during the architectural design and building process.
According to CEDIA, when professionals in architecture, design, and construction partner with professionals in the custom electronics industry early in the project, they save the customer time and money and ultimately deliver the best custom electronic designs and solutions.
In order to promote this goal, CEDIA has provided the AutoCAD icon set as a standard for all professionals involved in a project.
