International Facility Management Association and BOMI Institute have entered into an educational partnership to provide four courses for facility and property management professionals. The agreement was announced during IFMA’s World Workplace 2000 conference in New Orleans in September.
BOMI Institute will develop a series of one-day seminars for IFMA for distribution to its members. The initial subjects will include facilities fundamentals, technologies involved with facilities management and the day-to-day operations and maintenance of facilities.
The subjects and materials will be drawn from BOMI Institute’s existing programs and will be designed to meet IFMA’s objectives of delivering one-day “learning modules.” The two organizations will collaborate on both the selection of content for each module and of top-notch instructors drawn from the industry.
Since its founding in 1970, BOMI Institute has been a leading provider of adult education programs for commercial property professionals. The Institute’s educational offerings have grown from its initial property management-focused curriculum to include training for facilities managers, building engineers, and building technicians.
The Institute offers four professional designation programs: the Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administrator (FMA), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), and Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT). More than 16,000 professionals hold one or more BOMI designations, and nearly 10,000 students register for individual courses each year.
IFMA is a professional association for facility management with approximately 17,600 members worldwide. The organization offers networking opportunities through its regional chapters and councils structure, provides certification and educational programs, conducts research, spots trends and assists facility managers in developing skills and strategies to manage the human, structural and real estate assets of an organization. The combined purchasing power of IFMA’s North American members is $64 billion (US) annually. For more information, visit the Association’s Web site at www.ifma.org.
