May 6, 2005—The International Facility Management Association Foundation is to undertake a study into what effect wireless technologies will have on the facilities management profession, says the foundation.
The study, and a white paper, both to be produced by consultant Baker Robbins & Company, will examine the impact of various technologies including audio, video, e-mail, the internet, data, construction, design and furnishings.
A statement issued by the IFMA Foundation says that executives often called upon facilities managers to implement new technologies as soon as they became available, even if they did not fully understand how they worked. It says the research was being undertaken to help facilities managers combat this problem.
The findings will be released in October at IFMA’s 2005 World Workplace Conference and Expo in Philadelphia. For more information, visit the IFMA Web site.
